2014_03_16 Temp Control Cable
New. Control side. Not too cool. It doesn't fit properly, is reversed, and the attaching hole doesn't line up to the control unit housing. Sweet!
Old. Control side. Busted up plastic retainer. What, these things don't last over 45 years?
Door side showing old vs new retainers. New is actually a better method for adjustment. The retainer is staked on the ends to follow the winding for adjustment.
Old verses new cable OAL. Yeah, suppliers, what's up with that?
Old. Control side showing reversed retainer. One of these two is as wrong as ObamaCare.
Old #2. Control side showing reversed retainer. One of these two is as wrong as ObamaCare.
The fix: Removed the reversed clip and cut the end loop.
Reshaped and reattched the clip in the proper orientation.
The attachment hole is now at the correct height.
My spring jig for small gun springs. This wire is huge compared to what I'm used to, but it worked.
Nuther end loop pic. Not my neatest job, but I'm good with it.
Results. This cable is now identical in size to the original
Wires pulled forward shows identical lengths.
And the final test is to attach it to the control housing bracket. It lines up properly! IT'S MILLER TIME!!
